Whether you’re preparing to compete in any number of OCR races this year, be it Spartan, Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash or Battlefrog, one of the things you will use to complete any number of obstacles is your hands. One of the best things I learned early on in these races was that the right pair of gloves can make a world of difference when you are climbing ropes, traversing rigs, or even keeping your fingers warm on a cold day.

When training for Spartan Race, or any of the other OCR races each year, you will want to make sure you practice with a good pair of gloves. Personally, I have two pair I race with — a fingerless pair I use in warm or dry events, and a heavy duty pair I use when temps drop below 40 degrees.

These gloves perform better when it’s wet out, and can be a little slippery in dry conditions. The polyester top do a decent job at drainage, but you should probably order on the smaller size to prevent as much water from getting in as possible, as well as preventing excess material from causing you to lose grip.
